Union City does not set a single fixed nighttime clock. Instead, the Community Noise Ordinance (Chapter 9.40) caps noise at ambient-plus levels around the clock, with a relaxed daytime exemption that effectively makes evenings and early mornings stricter.
Under UCMC 9.40.041 noise on residential property may not exceed 10 dBA above the local ambient (never treated as below 40 dBA) at the property plane at any hour. UCMC 9.40.050 grants a 'daytime exception' for sources under 70 dBA at 25 feet between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Outside those windows the full ambient-plus limits and the general noise-disturbance prohibition in 9.40.040 apply, so loud activity late at night or early morning is more readily a violation. There is no separate numeric curfew decibel for night.
Any violation of Chapter 9.40 is an infraction; each 24-hour day a violation continues is a separate offense (UCMC 9.40.121). Noise may also be abated as a public nuisance by injunction (9.40.122).
