Clark County defines partial (F1) and full (F2) sight-obscuring fence standards, each six feet high. Fences may not obstruct sight distance at intersections, and private fences are prohibited within public rights-of-way without Public Works Director approval.
CCC 40.320.010(B) sets two fence standards used for screening: the F1 partial sight-obscuring fence, six feet high and at least fifty percent sight-obscuring; and the F2 fully sight-obscuring fence, six feet high and one hundred percent sight-obscuring. Under 40.320.010(C)(2)(b), landscaping and screening (including fences) must not obstruct sight distance at intersections per Section 40.350.030. Private retaining walls or fences within public rights-of-way are prohibited without approval of the Public Works Director. These height/setback limits do not apply to fences required by state law to enclose public utilities or to chain-link fences enclosing school grounds or public recreation areas.
Fences obstructing sight distance or placed in a right-of-way without approval must be modified or removed under county code enforcement.
