Vancouver regulates fences under VMC 20.912. Front yard fences are limited to 4 feet and side/rear yard fences to 6 feet in residential zones. Corner lots have visibility triangle requirements.
Under VMC Chapter 20.912 (Fences and Walls), fences in front yards of residential properties may not exceed 4 feet. Side and rear yard fences may be up to 6 feet. On corner lots, fences within the sight distance triangle must not exceed 3 feet for traffic safety. Fences on top of retaining walls have combined height limitations. The zoning code may allow exceptions for specific situations such as properties adjacent to arterial roads.
Non-compliant fences result in code compliance notices and required modification or removal.
