Fire pits in Antioch must be contained in approved devices with proper clearance from structures. Wood-burning fire pits are prohibited on Spare the Air days. Gas fire pits are generally more permissible.
Recreational fire pits must maintain at least 25 feet clearance from structures and be in approved containers. Only clean dry wood or manufactured fire logs may be burned. Fires must be supervised with extinguishment available. On Spare the Air days, no wood burning is allowed. Gas fire pits with shutoff valves are generally permitted year-round.
Non-compliant fire pit use results in fines. Wood burning on Spare the Air days carries BAAQMD penalties.
