All consumer fireworks are banned statewide under MGL c. 148, §39. This applies throughout Worcester County. Possession or use is a criminal offense. Only licensed professional displays are permitted.
Massachusetts law (MGL c.148 §39) prohibits the sale, possession, and use of ALL consumer fireworks, including sparklers. MA is one of the strictest states in the nation for fireworks regulation. Even ground-based devices that are legal in neighboring states are prohibited. Only professionally licensed displays with State Fire Marshal permits are legal. Many MA residents purchase fireworks in NH (where they are legal) and bring them back, which is also illegal.
Possession: fine $10 to $100. Use: up to $100 first offense, $200 subsequent. Possible imprisonment. Confiscation of all fireworks.
