Chapter 38 of the Flower Mound Code of Ordinances adopts the 2024 International Fire Code with local amendments and prohibits open burning within town limits. Trench burns are explicitly banned. Incinerator fires are limited to lots or tracts of land of two acres or more, must be at least 20 feet from any structure or combustible material, and must be entirely contained within an approved container with a spark arrestor. The Fire Chief or designee enforces these provisions within the town corporate limits and the extraterritorial jurisdiction. TCEQ outdoor burning rules under 30 TAC 111 Subchapter B provide additional state-level restrictions. Denton County burn bans may be activated during drought conditions, further restricting any outdoor fire activity.
