Quakertown Borough Chapter 6, Part 7 (Open Burning and Recreational Fires) strictly prohibits all open burning within the Borough. No person shall kindle, set, start, ignite, maintain, or permit any open burning outside of any building for any purpose. Limited exceptions require a permit from the Borough Fire Marshal for: preventing or abating a fire hazard, prevention and control of disease or pests, and ceremonial purposes such as bonfires. Permitted burn locations must be at least 50 feet from any structure with provisions to prevent fire spread. Outdoor cooking is allowed only on UL-approved open-flame cooking devices solely intended for cooking food. Outdoor fireplaces must be ignited, attended, and extinguished by an adult (18+). A minimum of one portable fire extinguisher, bucket of water, or garden hose must be available for immediate use.
