Lancaster County sets no separate propane rule. Home propane storage follows the 2021 International Fire Code, adopted by Lincoln (LMC 19.03.010), plus State Fire Marshal LP-gas regulations. Small residential cylinders need no permit; larger tanks and installations do.
Lincoln adopted the 2021 edition of the International Fire Code including all appendices (LMC 19.03.010), which controls LP-gas (propane) storage, use, and container siting through IFC Chapter 61 and NFPA 58. Ordinary residential barbecue cylinders (up to about 100 pounds) are allowed without a fire permit, but larger aggregate storage triggers operational permits and separation-distance rules. Nebraska also regulates LP-gas installations statewide through the State Fire Marshal. Lancaster County itself does not add a separate propane-storage ordinance; the adopted fire code and state LP-gas rules apply in both the city and, through the fire districts, in the unincorporated county. Multifamily balcony limits are covered under the grill rules.
Storing propane beyond code limits or without a required operational permit violates the adopted International Fire Code (LMC 19.03) and is enforced by Lincoln Fire & Rescue and the State Fire Marshal.
