Spokane food trucks operate on private property with owner permission or in designated public spaces under SMC 10.36. Downtown and Riverfront Park events require event-specific permits. Distance-from-restaurant rules are not generally imposed.
Spokane allows food trucks on private property with the owner's written permission and appropriate zoning, and on public rights-of-way only with specific permits. Downtown vending is coordinated with the Downtown Spokane Partnership and City special-event office. Riverfront Park, Expo 74 sites, and City-sponsored events require event-specific food vendor permits. Vending on public streets or sidewalks outside organized events is limited and requires an obstruction permit. Some residential zones prohibit mobile vending. Trucks must maintain distance from fire hydrants and cannot block ADA sidewalk access. Noise and generator rules under SMC 10.08D apply; quiet generators and shore power are encouraged.
Unpermitted vending in prohibited zones: $250 fine plus shutdown. Sidewalk obstruction: $100 plus ticket.
