Spokane allows overnight on-street parking subject to the 24-hour rule in SMC 16A.61.424. Snow-emergency routes and posted no-parking zones restrict overnight parking seasonally. Residential permit zones require valid permits overnight.
Spokane does not impose a citywide overnight parking ban on residential streets. Vehicles may park overnight so long as they are moved within 24 hours and are not in a posted tow-away, street-sweeping, or snow-emergency zone. During activated snow events, designated Stage 1 and Stage 2 routes require vehicles to be off the roadway so plows can pass; this is announced by the City and signed along routes. Residential Parking Zones near Gonzaga, the Medical District, and downtown fringe require a valid RPZ permit overnight for non-exempt vehicles. Downtown metered zones generally do not charge overnight (check signs). Sleeping in a vehicle on public streets is restricted under SMC 10.10 and camping ordinances.
Over 24 hours: $35 plus tow. Snow-route violation: $50 plus tow. RPZ without permit: $35 citation.
