Signs advertising the sale must be limited to 4 square feet, posted no more than 48 hours before the sale, and removed within 24 hours after. Sales of new merchandise, professionally stocked goods, or commercial resellers are not considered garage sales and require a separate business license. Illinois home rule authority under Art.
