The City of North Las Vegas does not impose specific install-by or take-down-by dates for residential holiday lights. The general nuisance, right-of-way, and noise provisions of NLVMC can apply if lights create glare onto neighboring properties or extend into the public sidewalk. The primary regulator of holiday lighting is HOA CC&Rs in master-planned communities (Aliante, Sun City Aliante, Eldorado, Coleman Highlands).
North Las Vegas Municipal Code does not include a holiday-light-specific ordinance, and the city takes a permissive approach to private holiday decoration. Three general code provisions can apply: (1) NLVMC nuisance provisions if lights produce direct glare onto a neighboring residence's windows in a way that unreasonably interferes with the use of the property; (2) right-of-way obstruction rules if extension cords, lighting strands, or supports encroach into the public sidewalk or street; and (3) the NLVMC noise ordinance if a display includes amplified music or sound effects exceeding limits between quiet hours (typically 10 PM to 7 AM). The dominant regulator is the HOA. Most North Las Vegas master-planned community CC&Rs specify install windows (commonly Thanksgiving to mid-January for Christmas; comparable windows for other holidays), require lights to be turned off by 11 PM or midnight, and prohibit certain colors or animation types. Sun City Aliante, an age-restricted community, is known for stricter aesthetic standards through its design review committee. Nevada NRS Chapter 116 governs HOA enforcement authority and includes protections for certain religious displays but does not preempt reasonable holiday light covenants.
City: nuisance citation under NLVMC ($250+) for glare or obstruction; noise fine for amplified audio after quiet hours. HOA: per CC&R fine schedule, commonly $50 to $250 per violation with daily accrual subject to NRS Chapter 116 procedures.
