No displays or signs naming or advertising a home occupation are permitted on or off the lot, and advertising (phone directories, printed material, vehicles) may not reveal the location; only business cards and letterhead may show the address.
Section 35.42.190.C.4 broadly prohibits any displays or signs naming or advertising the home occupation, whether located on the home occupation lot or off site. All advertising for the home occupation - including telephone directories, newspaper ads, other printed material, and any equipment or vehicles associated with the business - must not divulge the location of the home occupation. The only narrow exception is that business cards and letterhead may list the address. This rule reinforces the broader policy in § 35.42.190.C.2 that the existence of a home occupation must not be discernible from the exterior of the dwelling. For uses that qualify for the permit exemption under § 35.42.190.D, business advertisements other than business cards and letterhead also may not list the home address (§ 35.42.190.D.3). Note: the County's sign rules in Article 35.4 of the Land Use & Development Code separately prohibit most commercial signs in residential zones; home-occupation signage receives no special allowance under § 35.42.190.
Posting any sign, display, or advertisement (other than business cards or letterhead) that names or reveals the location of a home occupation is a violation of § 35.42.190.C.4 and is grounds for citation and revocation of the home-occupation permit under Section 35.84.060.
