Under Irving Code Chapter 22, non-emergency signaling devices (including car alarms) are limited to 10 consecutive seconds per hour. A car alarm that repeatedly activates, sounds for extended periods, or creates unreasonable noise disturbance may be cited as a violation. The vehicle owner or operator is responsible for maintaining alarm systems that comply with noise regulations. Irving PD responds to noise complaints involving car alarms, particularly during quiet hours (10 PM to 7 AM). Vehicles with persistently malfunctioning alarms creating ongoing neighborhood disturbances may be subject to additional enforcement action.
