The City of Irving prohibits the sale, use, possession, and discharge of fireworks within city limits, consistent with Texas Local Government Code Chapter 342 which authorizes municipalities to regulate fireworks. Consumer fireworks may only be used legally in unincorporated areas of Dallas County during permitted time periods. Professional pyrotechnics displays require a special permit and licensed pyrotechnician. Sparklers and other small novelty items may be available at licensed locations outside city limits but remain prohibited for use within Irving. During drought conditions, additional county-wide burn bans may further restrict fireworks in surrounding unincorporated areas. The Irving Fire Marshal's office enforces fireworks regulations.
