Section 12.08.460 further restricts amplified sound near schools, churches, and hospitals. Outdoor events requiring amplified sound in unincorporated areas may need a temporary use permit from the Department of Regional Planning. The ordinance applies to live music, DJ equipment, PA systems, and any electronically amplified sound. Enforcement is handled by Environmental Health and the LA County Sheriff's Department.
Violation of Section 12.08.450 is a misdemeanor punishable by fines up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail. Equipment used in violation may be subject to seizure. Repeated violations may result in nuisance abatement proceedings.
