Lodi Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 makes it unlawful to operate drums, radios, loudspeakers, sound amplifiers, stereos, or similar sound systems on public streets, rights-of-way, or in public parks in a way that is clearly audible 50 feet from the source. Nighttime quiet hours run 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Per Lodi Municipal Code Chapter 9.24, it is unlawful to play or operate any drum, radio, phonograph, loudspeaker, sound amplifier, stereo, television, or other similar sound system, whether mobile or from a fixed location, upon the public streets, public right-of-way, or in public parks in such a fashion that it is clearly audible at a distance of 50 feet from the source. The same chapter prohibits noise that disturbs the peace, particularly between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Outdoor music for events, weddings, restaurant patios, and brewery tasting rooms (including the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center district) must keep amplified sound below the audibility threshold at 50 feet from the source and observe the 10 p.m. cutoff. Special events on public property may require a special event permit and amplified-sound approval through the City Manager's Office or Parks & Recreation.
Chapter 9.24 violations are enforced by Lodi Police and Code Enforcement and are abatable as a public nuisance. Per LMC Title 1, violations may be charged as infractions or misdemeanors with fines escalating for repeat offenses, plus possible cost-recovery for abatement.
