Calverton is an unincorporated hamlet/CDP in the Town of Riverhead (Suffolk County), so the Riverhead Town Code controls. Article XLV (Supplementary Use Regulations) of the Zoning chapter limits residential parcels to no more than two commercial vehicles. Calverton (pop. ~5,934) is a hamlet on the East End of Long Island, mostly in the Town of Riverhead with a small southern portion in Brookhaven. Because Calverton is unincorporated, Riverhead Town Code governs. Article XLV of the Zoning chapter, originally adopted 12-21-1976 and amended 8-18-2009, provides that 'no more than two commercial vehicles may be allowed to park per residence in a residential zoning district. Zoning enforcement is handled by Riverhead Code Enforcement; each day a third (or additional) commercial vehicle remains is treated as a separate violation. Parking citations for street-side commercial vehicle violations are issued by the Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Police. Fines under Ch. 138 escalate with repeat offenses and the town may tow vehicles parked in violation.
