Richmond generally allows overnight on-street parking for passenger vehicles citywide except in RPP zones without a valid permit or in posted no-parking areas such as snow emergency routes.
Unlike many cities, Richmond does not impose a blanket overnight parking ban on passenger cars. However, during declared snow emergencies, vehicles must be removed from designated snow routes or face towing and a 150 dollar fine. RPP zones require a permit at all hours in most districts. Vehicles cannot remain in the same public spot for more than 72 consecutive hours without being moved, per VA Code 46.2-1209.1 and local regulation, which would classify them as potentially abandoned.
