Palm Coast Code Section 44-34 prohibits oversized vehicles - any vehicle more than 9 feet high or more than 20 feet long - from being parked or stored on residential property, along with all RVs, boats, boat trailers, and utility trailers. Larger commercial vehicles (semis, dump trucks, box trucks) remain banned under Section 44-34(c) even after the November 2025 amendment. Parking in the paved right-of-way is banned at all times under Section 44-33, and parking in unpaved swales is banned 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Palm Coast's oversized-vehicle framework is one of the strictest in northeast Florida. Chapter 44 (Traffic and Vehicles), Section 44-34 prohibits any vehicle 'more than 9 feet high or more than 20 feet long' from being parked or stored on residential property, and separately prohibits all RVs, motor homes, travel trailers, campers, vessels, boats, boat trailers, and utility trailers on residential lots. The November 18-19, 2025 amendment to Section 44-34(c) created a narrow allowance for one qualifying commercial work truck per residential property in the driveway, but only if the truck weighs less than 26,000 pounds and is not more than 20 feet long and 9 feet high, with attachments not exceeding 2 feet above vehicle height, 2 feet beyond length, or 1 foot wider than the vehicle, and with no hanging or exposed loose tools or materials. Larger commercial vehicles - semi-tractors with or without trailers, dump trucks, large box trucks, large flatbed trailers, buses, and similar heavy equipment - remain prohibited from residential property regardless of the amendment. Section 44-33 prohibits parking 'private passenger or recreational vehicles in the paved rights-of-way of City roads' at all times except in defined Florida emergencies, and prohibits parking in unpaved swales or medians between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with $25 / $50 / $100 escalating civil penalties. Vehicles that block driveways, sight distance at intersections, or fire hydrants are subject to immediate tow under FS 316.1945 as incorporated by Chapter 44. Florida HB 1203, effective July 1, 2024, restricts HOA regulation of owners' personal vehicles, boats, and RVs but does not override the city's underlying ban. Parking or storing any vehicle more than 9 feet high or more than 20 feet long on residential property in Palm Coast violates Section 44-34 regardless of vehicle type. Storing an RV, motor home, travel trailer, camper, boat, boat trailer, or utility trailer on a residential lot violates Section 44-34 at any size. Storing a semi-tractor, dump truck, large box truck, flatbed trailer, or bus on a residential lot violates Section 44-34(c) even after the November 2025 work-truck amendment. Parking an oversized vehicle in the paved street right-of-way at any time or in the unpaved swale between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. violates Section 44-33 with $25 / $50 / $100 escalating civil penalties. Blocking driveways, fire hydrants, fire lanes, or sight distance is grounds for immediate tow.
