Arlington allows on-street parking on most residential streets but requires vehicles to face with the flow of traffic, park within 18 inches of the curb, and avoid blocking driveways, hydrants, and intersections. Entertainment District blocks enforce strict event-day restrictions during Cowboys, Rangers, and concert events.
Under Arlington Code of Ordinances Chapter 24 and Texas Transportation Code Chapter 545, vehicles parked on city streets must be aligned with the direction of travel, parked within 18 inches of the right-hand curb (or left-hand curb on one-way streets), and must not obstruct driveways, mailboxes, fire hydrants (15 feet minimum), crosswalks (20 feet), stop signs (30 feet), or intersections. Vehicles cannot remain parked in one spot on a city street for more than 72 consecutive hours โ the 72-hour rule is a presumption of abandonment that authorizes tagging, towing, and impound. Permit-parking zones exist in several older neighborhoods near UT Arlington and around the Entertainment District. Residents in permit zones receive up to four residential parking permits and two guest permits annually; visitors without permits face ticketing during enforcement hours. On event days at AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, temporary no-parking signs are posted three to four hours before kickoff or first pitch across designated blocks near Randol Mill Road, Collins Street, and Division Street. Violating event-day restrictions results in $50-$100 tickets and possible tow at owner expense. Overnight restrictions may apply on specific streets where posted.
