Arlington has no blanket citywide overnight parking ban, but specific streets post no-overnight-parking signs between 2 AM and 6 AM, and HOAs commonly impose private overnight restrictions. RVs, boats, and trailers face strict overnight rules on streets and in driveways under residential zoning.
Unlike some Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs, Arlington does not enforce a citywide ban on overnight parking on residential streets. Parking is governed instead by the 72-hour rule (see Street Parking) combined with posted block-by-block restrictions. The city has installed No Parking 2 AM to 6 AM signage on select arterials, school approach streets, and narrow cul-de-sacs where on-street overnight parking impairs emergency access or snow operations. Violations in posted zones bring $50 tickets. Recreational vehicles, travel trailers, boats, and utility trailers face stricter overnight rules regardless of signage: they cannot be parked on a public street overnight in residential zoning districts under Code Β§24.3, and they cannot be stored in a driveway facing the street for more than 24 hours unless behind a six-foot opaque fence or in a side yard with approved side drive access. Short-term loading and unloading β generally 24 hours maximum β is permitted. HOAs throughout Arlington often impose tighter restrictions than the city code, including total bans on overnight street parking, and HOA fines are enforced through deed-restriction actions independent of municipal tickets. Check your neighborhood's CCRs before assuming city rules are the only constraint.
Specific penalty amounts for this ordinance are not published in a publicly accessible fine schedule. Contact Arlington code enforcement directly for current fines, enforcement procedures, and hearing options.
