Fort Worth does not impose a citywide overnight street parking ban. Most residential streets allow overnight parking, but oversized vehicles, RVs, and commercial vehicles face restrictions.
Fort Worth follows the Texas approach of leaving routine overnight residential street parking legal. There is no citywide 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM ban as seen in some Midwestern cities. However, Chapter 22 of the City Code prohibits parking oversized vehicles, RVs, trailers, and commercial vehicles over 21 feet or over a certain weight on residential streets for extended periods. Vehicles may not be parked on the street for more than 72 consecutive hours without moving, under the abandoned-vehicle provision. Posted No Parking signs, fire lanes, and permit-only zones near TCU, downtown, and Dickies Arena override default rules. Snow is rare, so there is no snow-emergency parking ban, though occasional ice events can prompt temporary restrictions. The Fort Worth Parking Authority enforces downtown; residential neighborhoods are handled by Police and Code Compliance.
Standard parking tickets run $25 to $75. Abandoned-vehicle towing after 72 hours involves tow and storage fees easily exceeding $300. Commercial-vehicle-in-residential-zone citations can reach $200 per offense.
