Siskiyou County, CA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Siskiyou County's unincorporated roads are governed by Title 3, Chapter 4 (Traffic) of the County Code together with the California Vehicle Code, which the State sets for all public roadways. Under CVC Section 22500, it is unlawful to stop, park, or leave a vehicle in front of a public or private driveway, on a sidewalk, within a crosswalk or intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, or in any posted no-parking zone. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol enforce these rules on County roads. The County's most specific published street-parking restriction is its winter rule: County Ordinance No. 770 (codified in Code Section 3-4.606) 'prohibits parking in the roadway during snow removal operations,' and Public Works notes the rule is enforced where the area is 'properly signed.' Snow is normally 'plowed to the right with the intent of creating equal berms in each direction,' and the County is not obligated to remove berms left across driveways or mailboxes. Private, non-County-maintained roads and gravel/dirt roads are outside County road maintenance and are not plowed.
