Largo, Florida does not get snow, but property owners are still responsible for keeping sidewalks abutting their lots clear of vegetation, debris, and obstructions that would block pedestrians or create a tripping hazard.
Largo has no snow-removal ordinance because measurable snowfall does not occur in Pinellas County. However, Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances and right-of-way rules require that property owners trim hedges, tree limbs, and other vegetation so they do not extend over the sidewalk and that they keep at least eight feet of vertical clearance for pedestrians. Owners must also remove storm debris, palm fronds, and other obstructions promptly after a weather event so the walkway remains usable. Sidewalk repair within the public right-of-way is generally a city responsibility.
Owners who do not trim vegetation or clear debris after notice can be fined, and Largo may contract the work and bill the property owner for the cost plus an administrative fee.
