Largo, FL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 11-78(c) of the Largo Code makes it unlawful to park or store any commercial vehicle, heavy vehicle, or commercial construction, landscaping or land-clearing equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, backhoes or concrete mixers on any residentially zoned or designated property. Section 11-73 defines a commercial vehicle broadly to include stepvans, semi-trailers, tractor-trailers, moving vans, box trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks and buses, and defines a heavy vehicle as any motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight over 11,000 pounds. The code carves out an 'exempt commercial vehicle' category, covering pickup trucks with toppers or racks, passenger vans, panel vans and taxicabs, which Section 11-78(d)(1)(f) allows one of in the front yard between the house and the right-of-way, plus one additional exempt vehicle in the side or rear yard.

Actual performance of a service at the premises is excused under Section 11-78(d)(2), and government vehicles and licensed emergency vehicles are exempt under (d)(1)(b) and (d). Under Section 11-78(e), the ban applies regardless of when the parking began and is not protected as a legal nonconforming use, though it does not disturb lawful nonconforming uses of the land itself. Enforcement falls to the community standards manager and the chief of police under Section 11-82, with penalties running through administrative abatement or a notice to appear carrying a county uniform fine under Section 11-83.
