DeKalb County Sanitation Division (DeKalb Code Chapter 22) provides solid waste and recycling collection to unincorporated DeKalb residences. Carts (roll carts issued by the county) must be stored out of view from the public street between collection days β typically in a garage, behind the house, or behind a screen on the side yard. Placement at the curb is allowed no earlier than 6 PM the day before collection, and bins must be retrieved by 7 AM the day after. Cart lids must remain closed. Overflowing carts subject to pick-up refusal and potential citations. Yard waste collected separately in paper bags, bundles under 4 ft and 50 lbs, or in a designated cart. Bulky items collected by appointment. Hazardous waste prohibited from regular collection.
