Loveland Solid Waste (a city-operated service) requires residents to set out trash and recycling carts by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Carts must be at the curb with wheels against the curb, with 3 feet of clearance from obstructions, 2 feet of space on either side of carts for the automated arm, and lids closed. Only city-provided carts are collected - no extra bags or boxes.
Loveland operates its own municipal solid waste service through the Loveland Solid Waste Division (Public Works). Service rules and rates are codified in the Loveland Municipal Code; operational guidelines are published by the Solid Waste Division. Per the City of Loveland Trash & Recycling guidance: (1) Carts must be placed by 7:00 a.m. on collection day with wheels against the curb; (2) maintain at least 3 feet of clearance around each cart from parked vehicles, mailboxes, basketball hoops, fire hydrants, and other obstructions; (3) leave 2 feet of space on either side of carts so the automated truck arms can grip each one; (4) only carts with closed lids will be picked up; (5) only city-provided carts are collected - no extra bags or boxes set beside the cart; (6) in winter, shovel a path to the recycling and trash carts and keep containers off patches of ice for safety; (7) snow may not be piled or blown into the public right-of-way (LMC Chapter 12.24), which would also obstruct cart placement. Improperly placed carts may be skipped without service. Contact Loveland Solid Waste at 970-962-2529.
Carts placed late, with lids open, beyond clearance limits, or with extra bags beside them may be skipped. Persistent non-compliance enforced under the Loveland Solid Waste service rules. Contact 970-962-2529.
