The city issues each residence one wheeled cart of up to 96 gallons for weekly collection plus a 64-gallon recycling cart. Carts go out no earlier than 24 hours before pickup and must be off the right-of-way by 10:00 p.m.
Carts must be at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on collection day, set within ten feet of the curb or street edge. A second garbage cart costs a one-time $50.00 fee paid in advance, and no address may hold more than two; unauthorized carts are removed. Waste that does not fit goes in lidded metal or plastic containers of no more than 35 gallons weighing under 50 pounds, or in securely tied plastic bags. City carts stay city property and cannot leave the address they serve. Owners, tenants, and agents all answer for spillage from a container.
Enforcement places a 24-hour notice sticker on the noncompliant item. If it is not corrected, the owner or occupant faces a citation and a $500.00 first-offense fine, each day a separate offense.
