Tarpon Springs limits curbside placement to 12 hours before and after collection, requires containers be stored out of public view, and caps household trash at five 32-gallon cans.
Chapter 8 of the Tarpon Springs Code of Ordinances and the city's Solid Waste Division regulate residential trash containers. Containers may be set out no earlier than 12 hours before collection and must be retrieved within 12 hours after pickup, with all material at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Monday and Thursday collection days. After collection, both garbage and recycling carts must be stored out of public view (behind a fence, in a garage, or beside the house). Households may use up to five garbage cans, each 32 gallons or smaller. Recycling containers must be 32 gallons and clearly labeled with the recycling symbol or word. Section 8-13 makes the city the exclusive collector of solid waste.
Violations can result in code enforcement notices, fines under Chapter 8, missed collection, and accumulating daily penalties for repeat offenses.
