Tarpon Springs adopts the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code in Chapter 9, requiring exterior structures, yards, and accessory buildings to remain safe, sanitary, and free of blight.
Section 9-1 of the Tarpon Springs Code of Ordinances adopts the International Property Maintenance Code (2012 edition) as the city's property maintenance standard. The IPMC requires roofs, siding, paint, windows, fences, and accessory structures to be maintained structurally sound and weather-tight. Exterior surfaces showing peeling paint, rot, broken glass, or graffiti must be repaired. Inoperable vehicles, accumulated debris, junk, appliances, or untreated sewage are prohibited. Code Enforcement (727-937-0017, TarponCode@tspd.us) inspects on complaint or routine sweep, issues notices of violation, and can refer unresolved cases to the Code Enforcement Board for fines and liens that survive transfer of the property.
Violations may incur fines up to $250 per day for first-time and $500 per day for repeat violations under FS 162, plus liens recorded against the property.
