Rental property owners operating in Ocoee must obtain an annual Business Tax Receipt through the City Clerk office, per City Code Chapter 22. Long-term residential rentals (over 30 days) pay a standard BTR fee based on unit count. The city does not currently operate a proactive rental inspection program for long-term units. Vacation rentals under 30 days require a state DBPR license plus the city BTR. Compliance with FL Building Code and life-safety (smoke alarms, egress) is required.
Operating without a BTR: citations issued by Code Enforcement with fines up to 250 dollars per day until registered. Repeat violators may be referred to the Special Magistrate.
