Aircraft noise is preempted by the FAA and federal law. Ocoee has no local aircraft noise ordinance. Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) and Orlando International (MCO) Class B airspace generate most overflight noise.
Federal preemption under 49 U.S.C. Β§41713 and FAA authority over navigable airspace (14 CFR Part 91) prevents Ocoee or any Florida municipality from regulating aircraft in flight, including altitude, flight path, or noise levels. Ocoee sits approximately 15 miles northwest of Orlando International Airport (MCO) and about 10 miles west of Orlando Executive (ORL); both generate regular overflights, with MCO's Class B airspace floor extending over West Orange County. Orlando Sanford International (SFB) departures occasionally transit the area. Residents with noise concerns should file complaints through MCO's WebTrak online noise complaint system or call the FAA noise hotline. Ocoee also experiences helicopter traffic from Orlando Health, AdventHealth, and law enforcement agencies; these operations are similarly federally regulated. Ground noise from airport-adjacent facilities is the only category of aviation noise local government can regulate.
Not locally enforceable. Federal remedies only through FAA Part 150 noise compatibility process.
