Stark County has no general noise code for rentals. Guest noise is enforced through the noise and peace-disturbance ordinances of your city or village, such as Canton's ban on loud and disturbing noise, backed by the county Sheriff or local police in the townships.
The county government does not maintain a countywide noise ordinance for short-term rentals. In Canton, Chapter 509 of the Codified Ordinances prohibits unreasonably loud, disturbing or unnecessary noise that disturbs the peace, and limits amplified sound to daytime and evening hours. Massillon, Alliance, North Canton and other municipalities have their own noise chapters. In unincorporated areas, disturbances are handled by the Stark County Sheriff under Ohio's disorderly-conduct law (ORC 2917.11) and any township noise resolution. Hosts commonly set quiet hours in house rules to keep guests within whichever local ordinance applies.
In Canton, violating the loud-noise ordinance is a minor misdemeanor; repeated guest disturbances can also expose the property to nuisance enforcement.
