Galveston requires STR occupants to comply with city and state parking regulations. On-street parking cannot block alleys, sidewalks, other driveways, or impede travel or emergency vehicles, and off-street parking must be posted inside. Counties set no such rule.
Under Galveston Ord. 25-060, occupants must comply with city and state parking regulations. The code defines lawful "on-street parking" as parking that does not violate city or state law and does not use alleys, sidewalks, another residence's driveway, unimproved surfaces, or block public and emergency-vehicle travel. Owners must post the location of off-street and available parking, and any prohibitions, inside the unit. Complaints go to the city STR hotline. In unincorporated Galveston County, no county STR parking rule exists because Texas counties cannot zone; ordinary state traffic law still applies.
Parking violations by occupants can trigger citations and are imputed to the owner, supporting Class C misdemeanor penalties up to $500/day and license revocation review.
