Bell County has no STR registry. Killeen requires annual registration of any property rented for under 30 days through its online vendor (Neumo), plus a passing inspection. Temple requires a registration form but bans under-30-day rentals residentially. Unincorporated county has no registry.
Because Texas counties cannot regulate land use, there is no Bell County short-term rental registration. Killeen's program (effective for registrations beginning May 1, 2024, under Code Sec. 31-953) defines an STR as 'any property—such as a room, home, or guest house—rented for less than 30 days,' and requires every operator inside the city to register each year and pass an annual inspection before a permit is issued. Killeen registers through its approved online vendor. Temple asks hosts to complete an annual registration form but its code effectively prohibits rentals of 30 days or less in residential districts. In unincorporated Bell County no city registration exists; only county hotel occupancy tax reporting applies.
Killeen: unregistered operation is a code violation subject to citations and fines; the county has no registration enforcement of its own.
