An STR License is issued only to the property owner, is valid for no more than one year, and must be renewed annually at least 30 days before expiration. Licenses are not transferable to another person or location and terminate on sale.
Submittal requires a completed application, floor plan, parking plan, trash storage/removal plan, proof of water and sewer, proof of fire protection, proof of ownership, and (for a Wildland Urban Interface property) a Defensible Space Permit recertified every three years. Primary-residence applicants must also prove residency with two documents. The applicant self-certifies accuracy under penalty of perjury. Within seven days of approval the owner must send the Local Representative's contact information to neighbors following Level 2 Notification requirements. STR licenses terminate automatically upon any conveyance of ownership.
A false statement in the application may result in revocation; the Director may revoke for any noncompliance, making property and owner ineligible for a license for five years.
