City of Schenectady Code Chapter 190 requires rental-unit registration, inspections every 3 years, and a Certificate of Rental Compliance. STR hosts in the city fall under this chapter. New York State's 2024 STR framework (Chapter 739 of 2024) lets counties create optional registries but none yet exists in Schenectady County. Hosts on Airbnb or VRBO are identified to tax authorities through platform quarterly reports beginning March 25, 2025.
