Venice Code Ch. 42 (Miscellaneous Offenses) declares uninvited door-to-door solicitation a nuisance unless the solicitor holds a city license. Going onto private residences to peddle goods, wares, or merchandise without invitation - and without an appropriate license - is prohibited.
Chapter 42's solicitation provision states that going in and upon private residences in the city by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants or transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited by the owner or occupant, is declared a nuisance punishable under Sec. 1-14, except where an appropriate city license has been issued. Religious, political, and charitable canvassing receive First Amendment protection but may still be required to comply with reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions and registration.
Each violation is a Code offense under Sec. 1-14 with fines up to $500 plus possible misdemeanor charges. Posted 'No Soliciting' signs are enforceable - solicitors who ignore them can be cited for trespass under Fla. Stat. 810.09.
