NY Residential Code AG105 mandates 48-inch barrier around all pools over 24 inches deep. Self-closing, self-latching gates. Ulster towns strictly enforce.
NY State Residential Code Appendix G (adopted) and Section AG105 require a 48-inch minimum barrier around all residential swimming pools with water depth over 24 inches. Openings must not allow a 4-inch sphere to pass. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching with latches at least 54 inches above grade. Above-ground pools with removable ladders may use the pool wall as the barrier if the wall is 48 inches. Ulster County towns require final barrier inspection before filling the pool; Certificate of Compliance will not issue without it.
