Castle Rock applies the 2024 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, which sets safety requirements including barriers, self-latching gates, and protection at doors and windows leading to the pool area, to prevent unsupervised child access.
Beyond the perimeter barrier, the adopted 2024 ISPSC governs entrapment protection for drains and suction outlets, electrical bonding and grounding, and alarms or self-closing/self-latching devices where a house wall forms part of the pool enclosure. Doors with direct pool access may require alarms, and where a latch-release is on the barrier's inside, openings within 18 inches must be no greater than 1/2 inch. The Building Division inspects these features at final. Castle Rock also enforces the adopted electrical code for pool equipment.
Safety deficiencies found at inspection prevent final approval; the Town can require corrections before a pool is legally usable, under Title 15 enforcement.
