Bexar County, TX Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Bulk disposal in unincorporated Bexar County is not covered by a countywide pickup program. Residents can schedule bulk collection with their private hauler for an additional fee (usually $25 to $75 per pickup) covering items like mattresses, sofas, appliances, and small piles of brush. Self-hauling is also common, with the Covel Gardens Landfill on Applewhite Road and Tessman Road Landfill accepting household waste, bulky items, and construction debris with tipping fees by weight. Bexar County Environmental Services periodically hosts free residential drop-off events for household hazardous waste, electronics, paint, tires, and yard waste, typically held at county-owned sites with proof of residency required.
