Converse offers scheduled bulk trash pickup for items too large for the regular cart, such as furniture and appliances. Residents must call to schedule pickup and follow size and quantity limits.
Bulk items that do not fit in the 96-gallon cart (furniture, mattresses, appliances, small amounts of construction debris from homeowner projects) require separate handling. Converse residents may schedule bulk pickup through the contracted hauler or utilize periodic citywide bulk collection events. Items must be placed at the curb no earlier than the evening before the scheduled pickup. Freon-containing appliances (refrigerators, freezers, AC units) must have the refrigerant professionally removed and tagged before collection. Tires, paint, motor oil, batteries, and other hazardous materials are not accepted in bulk pickup and must be taken to the Bexar County Household Hazardous Waste facility. Contractor-generated construction debris is not eligible for municipal bulk collection and must be hauled by the contractor.
