Toledo lets residents set out up to 5 bulk items each week (under 40 lbs each) with regular trash beginning January 2026. The county also sponsors free disposal days at Hoffman Road Landfill for all Lucas County residents.
Bulk disposal options depend on where you live. Beginning January 2026, City of Toledo residents may place up to 5 bulk items at the curb each week with regular collection, with each item or bundle under 40 lbs, no scheduling required. Loose trash must be bagged, branches or rugs tied in a 3'x4' bundle, nails removed or flattened, and mattresses bagged. Separately, the City of Toledo sponsors free disposal days at Hoffman Road Landfill (3962 Hoffman Road) where any Lucas County resident may bring a truck or trailer of bulky items with a valid driver's license as proof of residency.
Overweight or excess items may be left uncollected. Illegally dumping bulk items instead is prosecuted under ORC 3734.03 and 3767.32.
