Adams County does not provide free countywide bulk pickup for unincorporated homes; bulky items go through your private hauler, a licensed drop-off/landfill, or county cleanup events. Illegally dumping large items in the street or on a lot is prohibited.
For large items (furniture, appliances, mattresses, construction debris), unincorporated Adams County residents arrange disposal through their private, county-licensed hauler, which may offer bulky-item pickup, or haul the items themselves to a licensed transfer station or landfill. Ordinance No. 17's hauler definitions expressly include 'bulky materials' and 'construction and demolition debris,' so a licensed hauler can handle them. The county and its Environmental Programs office also promote periodic community cleanup and recycling events. Dumping bulky items in the street, alley or on private land is not an accepted disposal method and is treated as illegal dumping. Trash dumped in the street or alley can be reported to Adams County Public Works at 720.523.6875.
There is no county bulk fee, but abandoning bulky items on a lot, street or alley is illegal dumping and environmental blight, subject to code-compliance citation and state littering penalties (CRS 18-4-511).
