Baltimore provides single-stream curbside recycling collection on a weekly or biweekly schedule, accepting paper, cardboard, plastics #1-7, glass, and metals in the blue recycling cart.
Baltimore provides curbside recycling collection for all single-family residential properties using city-issued blue carts. Recycling is single-stream, meaning all recyclable materials can be mixed in one container. Accepted materials include paper, cardboard, plastic containers #1-7, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and tin cans, and cartons. Materials must be clean and dry. Plastic bags, Styrofoam, and food-contaminated items are not accepted. Multi-family properties with 5+ units must establish recycling programs. Recycling collection follows the same placement and timing rules as trash collection.
Contamination of recycling carts with non-recyclable materials may result in non-collection and a tag explaining the issue. Repeated contamination may result in removal of recycling service. Multi-family properties failing to provide recycling may face citations.
