Baltimore provides curbside trash collection on a weekly schedule managed by the Department of Public Works, with specific rules for container placement, timing, and acceptable materials.
The Department of Public Works provides weekly curbside trash collection for residential properties. Trash must be placed in city-issued carts at the curb by 6:00 AM on collection day but no earlier than the evening before. All waste must be bagged and placed inside the cart with the lid closed. Acceptable items include household trash, small furniture, and bagged yard waste. Hazardous materials, electronics, tires, and construction debris are not accepted in regular collection. Large items require scheduling a bulk pickup through 311. Commercial properties must arrange private hauling.
Placing trash out too early, using non-approved containers, or leaving carts at the curb past collection day may result in citations and fines starting at $50. Contamination of recycling with trash may result in non-collection.
