Fair Lawn requires all property owners, lessees, and occupants to separate designated recyclable materials from regular trash and bundle or containerize them for curbside pickup under Chapter 204, Article II.
The Borough's Recycling Program (Chapter 204, Article II) mandates source separation of recyclables for residential, commercial, and institutional properties. Materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, metal cans, and certain plastics must be cleaned, separated, and either bundled or placed in approved containers for the scheduled recycling day. Multi-family and commercial properties must provide adequate recycling collection facilities. Enforcement is handled jointly by the Recycling Coordinator, Department of Health, Police, Public Works, and the Code Enforcement Officer's office.
Failure to separate recyclables or contaminating recycling streams may result in non-collection and fines under the Borough's recycling penalty provisions.
