Englewood Chapter 364 requires every solid waste generator in the City to source-separate designated recyclables, with the Director of Public Works serving as the City's Recycling Coordinator and enforcement official.
Under Englewood's Solid Waste and Recycling chapter, all generators of solid waste within the City must provide for source separation of recyclable materials. The Director of the Department of Public Works, or a designee, is designated as the Recycling Coordinator. Residents and businesses must keep designated recyclables out of the regular trash stream and set them out for the City's collection program. The DPW also publishes a Solid Waste Disposal Guidelines document listing acceptable paper and commingled items, and rubbish, garbage, or ashes collected outside the City may not be placed in Englewood receptacles.
Common violations include putting recyclables in regular trash, contaminating the recycling stream with non-accepted materials, and depositing waste collected outside Englewood into City containers. Enforcement is shared between DPW and the Police Department.
