Galloway Township requires source separation of designated recyclables from the solid waste stream by all persons in the Township, under Chapter 273 and New Jersey's Statewide Mandatory Source Separation and Recycling Act. Collectors may refuse to pick up trash from anyone who fails to separate recyclables.
Galloway Township Chapter 273 (the 'Recycling Ordinance of the Township of Galloway') establishes a program for the separation of recyclable materials from the municipal solid waste stream by all persons within the Township, as required by New Jersey's Statewide Mandatory Source Separation and Recycling Act (N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.11 et seq.). All recyclable material and solid waste must be source-separated by the customer prior to collection and remain source-separated through collection. Designated recyclables include glass, aluminum and metal cans, plastic bottles (grades 1-7) and newspaper. Any hauler picking up refuse in the Township must comply with all New Jersey State recycling rules and regulations.
The municipality or any collector may refuse to collect solid waste from anyone who has clearly failed to separate designated recyclables; violators are also subject to Township penalty enforcement.
